100 Points (10% Total Course Grade)
Directions:
- You MUST revise the document that you originally shared with me for evaluation! (Note: revisions can be examined if you click on File and select Version history and then select See version history on your document in KSU Google Docs.)
- Fix any issues I have either highlighted or commented upon.
- Fix the issues you’ve discovered since first submitting the assignment; ask your writing partner(s) for help: grammar, coherence, development of thought, etc..
- Expand the paper significantly: this essay should now be 1500-2000 words (4-7 pages) long.
- You should review the original directions on the assignment for Essay One.
- Consider the ways that depth of thought might be improved (and there are always ways for this to be done) in each paragraph.
- If you have to (further) develop the thesis statement, make sure that there is a sentence in each paragraph that ties it clearly to that thesis statement.
- Describe the aspects of writing about which you feel confident (e.g., spelling, organization, depth of thought, grammar,. . .).
- In expanding your paper, also share the following information:
- how has your writing process changed or not changed since before the start of this semester?
- how has your writing (the end result papers) changed or not changed since before the start of the semester?
- what sorts of challenges did you face in your writing this semester; were they new challenges or old challenges?
- sometimes, as one improves upon certain writing weaknesses, other writing strengths become weaker (usually temporarily); did this happen to you, and if so, what happened?
- not counting Essay One (or its revision), which essay was the “easiest” for you to write, and why do you think that was?
- not counting Essay One (or its revision), which essay was the most difficult for you to write, and why do you think that was?
NOTES:
- Again, you may use “I” in this assignment. (In fact, I do not see how you could not!)
- Again, do not worry about citing the Jung Typology Test or similar sources for your Essay One Revision assignment.
- There is absolutely no guarantee that the paper will earn the same grade or higher than the first version! The revised paper is being evaluated for significant revisions, as well as for overall quality. In other words, revisions do not equal a better grade: if you make sloppy revisions, then the paper’s grade might be lower than the original draft for a grade! This rarely happens, but it does happen, so be careful!
ADVICE:
- Work methodically. Seek help from your writing partner(s) in the Writing Workshop. Avoid working at the last minute.

Example
An essay worth 100 points that is: not be properly formatted (-5 points), submitted three days late (-3 points), has a very weak thesis (-5 points), has numerous incoherent sentences (-10 points), but has very strong organization and/or unity (+10 points) would likely earn a grade of 87/100 points (B+).
Rule
